An interesting PhD proposal on mobile phone eye-tracking interaction

Eye-Based Interaction and Context Recognition in Mobile Devices

The references are useful for understanding the state of eye-based
interaction. The author identifies 4 types of eye movement which may be
adapted, for example a quick cross-eyed motion could be used to switch
to the eye control mode and used again to switch out of eye control mode.

"
Saccades - Almost instantaneous movements of the eye from one position
to the other.
Fixations - A relatively stable position that allows detailed perception
of a particular area. Fixations do contain some movement however, namely
micro-saccades, these are very ne rapid movements of the eye that have
been shown to stop during high acuity activities
Pursuit Movement - A smooth eye-movement that becomes apparent when
following a moving object.e
Vergence Movement - When both eyes point inwards toward the Nose to
perceive close objects
"

Reliable eye detection will become a reality. It's something I perceive
as a very exciting way to interact with a mobile phone. An earlier idea
about how text could autoscroll when the eye gets to the end of a line
could help with reading text on small screens. The user-facing camera
that's one of the key features of Articulated Naturality devices means
they platforms are becoming ready. They're usually one megapixel cameras
and these may not be enough. Research propsotions like Jayson's will
answer the question I hope.

About Me

We It comes in part from an appreciation that no one can truly sign their own work. Everything is many influences coming together to the one moment where a work exists. The other is a begrudging acceptance that my work was never my own. There is another consciousness or non-corporeal entity that helps and harms me in everything I do. I am not I because of this force or entity. I am "we"
