An observation about racial profiling in every day life

I get funny looks when I walk into some of the local pubs I go to that
other people don't go in. They're the sort of local, dive type places
frequented by people who drink regularly and still live the old style
life where the pub is the centre of the community.

It's because I've got a beard. They think I'm a Muslim because I'm brown
and have a beard. They're either surprised to see a Muslim drinking or
think I'm Muslim but know so little about the culture that they forget
that Muslims don't drink. It's one of the 5 central tenets of Islam
without which the person can't call themselves a Muslim. Admittedly
there are a few Muslims that drink but they're not Muslims.

It's most ironic when I get those dodgy looks in Irish pubs. I used to
have a massive beard and still go into Irish pubs. The Irish are better
terrorists than Al Qaeda. They won their freedom. Afghanistan and Iraq
however are now the 52nd and 53rd states of America.

About Me

We It comes in part from an appreciation that no one can truly sign their own work. Everything is many influences coming together to the one moment where a work exists. The other is a begrudging acceptance that my work was never my own. There is another consciousness or non-corporeal entity that helps and harms me in everything I do. I am not I because of this force or entity. I am "we"
