Don't treat schizophrenia as a disease..

...treat it as a person who is unique and beautiful but has a shit life in this shit of a world.

Begin not with brain studies but with outcome ones. Social outcomes and better measures. Subjective report of wellness.

Treat schizophrenics like homosexuals 50 years ago but with our modern understanding. There is nothing wrong with being homosexual but prejudiced people and systems can make life shit. A shit life, a burden of identity and being, can be a shit life. This is why being normal is so great and why being homosexual and normal today is so great.

Imagine schizophrenics are getting fucked over by healthcare and science and psychiatry and people and the media and films...just like homosexuals 50 years ago.

Then...and only then...begin thinking about how the future of schizophrenia is going to look like.

Today people are arsing around with the label. The future sees them campaign to depathologise schizophrenia in psychiatric terms, just as Martin Luther King might have done when some stupid doctor invented the diagnosis negritude.

Being black has all the hallmarks of an illness - according to the biomedical model - when a society is fucked up. Doctors at the time thought treatment for the illness was to make a person white. The people - the white and some black members of the public - believed them.

Thank fuck for social engineers eh? Martin Luther King and others healed a supposed disease by changing a society which was ill.

About Me

We It comes in part from an appreciation that no one can truly sign their own work. Everything is many influences coming together to the one moment where a work exists. The other is a begrudging acceptance that my work was never my own. There is another consciousness or non-corporeal entity that helps and harms me in everything I do. I am not I because of this force or entity. I am "we"
