The History of Shock Therapy in Psychiatry

This is a really good page of information about the history of shock
therapies from insulin-induced comas to the modern ECT.

It's a shame it doesn't make the point well enough just how inhumane
these treatments are. It's barbaric for doctors to induce seizures to
treat mental disorder, a disorder than may only exist because of a
malformed society that doesn't accept people's difference and the
spectrum of the human condition rather than be anything that a doctor
should change in an individual.
