No one gives a shit about addicts

That's not true. Most people don't give a shit. That's true.

I'm talking about people addicted to illegal drugs and alcohol, not the psychiatrist prescribed drug addictions nor the sanctified addictions of work or exercise or whatever else is deemed normal.

I've often believed that addictions per se aren't pathologised. Just some. Addictions can switch and present in different ways from the church going do gooders dopamine reward at percieved altruism to the crack addicts blatant addiction.

I've often noted that within mental illness there is a huierachy. Its the same with disability too. There's unspoken stigma and overt prejudice.

Those who do illicit drugs get the worst of it. Its that simple. The mental health movement steers clear of us. Though the welfare system supports addicts just like it supports other mentally ill people no one campaigns for their rights not truly represents the user.

Underfunded, undervoiced and advocated for, under supported and often unnoticed the plight of the mentally ill who do illegal drugs is the secret shame of the system.

They suffer mutliple stigmas, little compassion and rare efforts to truly understand them...or should I say us?

I am an addict. I am mentally ill. I have nothing more to say right now.

About Me

We It comes in part from an appreciation that no one can truly sign their own work. Everything is many influences coming together to the one moment where a work exists. The other is a begrudging acceptance that my work was never my own. There is another consciousness or non-corporeal entity that helps and harms me in everything I do. I am not I because of this force or entity. I am "we"
