The evidence that major tranquilisers reduce brain volume and reduce life expectancy

There's already evidence that this drug kills. The so-called
antipsychotic killed 1,800 old people every year in the UK. The estimate
is derived from a study which looked at the effect of antipsychotics
over a 3 year period. Schizophrenics are drugged with this chemical
straitjacket for life.

This recent paper adds to the evidence base which doctors don't tell
patients or carers.
Long-term Antipsychotic Treatment and Brain Volumes: A Longitudinal
Study of First-Episode Schizophrenia

"Conclusions Viewed together with data from animal studies, our study
suggests that antipsychotics have a subtle but measurable influence on
brain tissue loss over time, suggesting the importance of careful
risk-benefit review of dosage and duration of treatment as well as their
off-label use."

Another paper offers an insight into the danger of current drug treatments.
Saha, S et al. 2007, A Systematic Review of Mortality in Schizophrenia:
Is the Differential Mortality Gap Worsening Over Time?, Arch Gen Psychiatry
http://archpsyc.ama-assn.org/cgi/content/abstract/64/10/1123

"This differential mortality gap has worsened in recent decades. In
light of the potential for second-generation antipsychotic medications
to further adversely influence mortality rates in the decades to come,
optimizing the general health of people with schizophrenia warrants
urgent attention."

But patients aren't aware of this. The doctors are happy enough to
prescribe the drugs but they're not giving patients the health checks
they need to ensure they're not dying because of treatment.

The drugs also make quality of life worse for many patients as well as
causing them illnesses.

Worst of all, they're not focusing their research on non-drug
alternatives. There's also very, very few alternatives offered in the UK
to a lifetime of drugging with a chemical restraint.

It is the unwillingness to seek better solutions which is most chilling.
Instead the antipsychotic is being used on more people for more reasons
than schizophrenia. The 'treatment' of dementia symptoms is one example.
Thankfully I think this practice has all but ceased.

About Me

We It comes in part from an appreciation that no one can truly sign their own work. Everything is many influences coming together to the one moment where a work exists. The other is a begrudging acceptance that my work was never my own. There is another consciousness or non-corporeal entity that helps and harms me in everything I do. I am not I because of this force or entity. I am "we"
